Li Yang was born in Jiangsu
province (China) in 1981. After a Major in Finance at the Nanjing Audit
University, he enters the prestigious Beijing Film Academy in 2005. There, he
takes part to many student film crews as a writer, director,
cinematographer, gaffer or even actor. After 3 years of experience in different
projects, and after a Golden Word Prize from the 5th Beijing Film
Academy Department of Literature for his screenplay “Control”, he finally
receives his degree of Master. Once out of School, he
is soon contacted by TV channels for his writing skills, which leads him to
work as a free-lance scriptwriter and director in Beijing. Between 2008 and
2009, he writes 5 long features (currently in preproduction or to be
broadcasted) for the national television CCTV 6. His first short film as a
director, “Helpless”, gains world recognition thanks to its selection in 2010
Clermont Film Festival.
