AD ASTRA FILMS | DIRECTOR: JOSÉ LUIS SATURNO

José Luis Saturno ventured into the world of art at the young age of four, when he started modeling clay figurines. This first talent has ultimately lead him to turn to stop motion animation, his current area of expertise, yet one that he does notlimit himself to.

His first short film “Llueve Metano” was nominated for various international festivals in countries such as Canada, Italy, Spain, Colombia, and Argentina and is scheduled to air on Spanish television in late 2009. Although his career has just begun, the young filmmaker has lent his talent to a multitude of projects, contributing as editor, designer, cameraman, council, or scriptwriter. In his latest group effort, he was involved with the design and construction of secondary characters for “The Bug Network”.

Saturno’s various projects are distinguished by the rich quality characteristic of his production teams. He writes his own stories, designs his own characters and scenes. Although he dares to delegate photography, drawing, sound,animation and special effects, he remains completely immersed in the creative process, participating in all aspects of the production, from its root till the tying of its final strings, ensuring faithfulness to feeling. For his fresh new creation, The Mime and the black butterfly, the artist has welcomed new additions in the areas of wardrobe, digital design, production and edition while continuing to collaborate with the esteemed teammates that have added the right agility to the creation of his projects over time.
